Gel Electrophoresis is a Beautiful Thing


Especially when it works correctly. If I remember right, the fifth track from the top is the ladder, around 1000 nucleotides long. From the top, it's the control, EcoRI, HincII, and PvuII, followed by the ladder, and then EH, EP, HP and EHP. The exact procedure can be found here.

So, Daniel...did you use the ethidium bromide stain for that? That kicks the quickview stain I used in class right in the can!

Too bad it's a carcinogen and I'm not allowed to use it in high schools...

I did use the ethidium bromide, and it turned out really well. It is a carcinogen though...we had to wear gloves while handling it. Glad to see another blog reader, by the way!
